The Community

In 2004, a small group of Cebuano climbers, discontented with the sport’s limited outdoor options and the recent closure of their indoor climbing gym, founded t330haiball – an unconventional collective of anti-establishment climbers.

In 2011, with the influx of new members, the group felt the need to change its name to Cebu Rock Climbing Community in order to foster inclusiveness and usher a new era for local climbing.

Mission

The CRCC is a group of passionate climbers shaping the sustainable growth of climbing in Cebu through education, mentorship, and stewardship, strengthening the foundation of the sport for future generations of climbers.

We are dedicated to the well-being of our crags by promoting responsible climbing practices and environmental stewardship for the sustainable future of Cebu’s crags.

Our Vision

Organizational Volunteers

Adrian Lu
Adrian Lu

How often do you encounter an 8a Doctor (8a climber and Pulmonologist) in this lifetime? They’re a rare breed, and Doc sure is. He aims to achieve two things: make CRCC a world-renowned climbing organization and climb a 9a route.

Dodong Mugot
Dodong Mugot

Hooked on climbing simply because he loves it, Dodong’s most memorable project route is La Filthy Gringas 7c+ (13a). His ultimate dream climb? Jack Sparrow. With a knack for onsighting 7a (5.11d) routes and a fondness for jugs and frontal moves, Dodong's climbing strength lies in tackling challenges head-on.

Nikki Cuna

Nikki, a UX/UI and web graphic designer by trade, is driven by the thrill of exploring new crags worldwide. Envisioning CRCC as a leader in mentoring the next generation of climbers, Nikki dreams of bringing professionalism to the guiding industry. With a knack for slabs and balance-y climbs, Nikki excels where footwork and creativity come into play.

Emma Vidal
Emma Vidal

It’s no surprise that Emma’s strong suit in climbing lies in her ability to read and map out the techniques to finish a route. As a Senior Manager for Operations, her knack for strategic thinking is just part of the job—an occupational hazard that proves to be an advantage in climbing.

Lilay Marquez
Lilay Marquez

By day, Lilay is a daydreamer and talented pixel-pusher, whose climbing superpower is her endurance (much to no one's surprise!). Her most memorable project is developing Mansorela crag, which tested her barefoot trad skills, or tackling Mickey Mouse 7c+ (5.13a) — a route that features all her nemesis moves.

Julidel Pogoy
Julidel Pogoy

Julie, a Finance Officer, fell in love with climbing because of the way it allows her body to move fluidly—like a choreographed dance on the wall—despite the physical and mental challenges. She dreams of taming the famous 5.14a Captain in Cantabaco, Jack Sparrow, someday.

Jerald Lim
Jerald WESLEY Lim

Jerald is a Finance Manager by day, working towards overcoming his fear of heights to confidently enjoy outdoor climbing on the weekends. He envisions CRCC to be a self-sufficient, role model organization within the country.

Sunshine Mendoza
Sunshine Mendoza

Sunshine is a Content Writer by trade who favors rockovers and splits over slabs. Her pipedream route is Black Foot in Cantabaco. She loves climbing as much as heights terrify the wits out of her.

Jela Buendia
Jela Buendia

A former Interior Designer, Jela is now working remotely and still dreams of clipping the chains of White Flower 8a (13b). With crimps and technical moves as her forte, it's not impossible to imagine Jela conquering this route.

Pets Suson
Paul Suson

Paul, or Pets (to the climbing community), is a climbing gym instructor who ultimately dreams of tackling 9a routes in Cataluna or Céüse. His climbing superpower lies in his skills with crimps and jugs. He climbed Jack Sparrow 8b+ (5.14a), the hardest route in Cantabaco, at the age of 15.

Jj Suson
Jj Suson

It didn't take much for Jj to fall in love with climbing; theirs was one of those love-at-first-climb stories! This young Civil Engineer is the 8th to send Cantabaco’s hardest route, Jack Sparrow. What is his climbing superpower? Let’s just say he didn’t earn the moniker “crimp god” for nothing.

Mervil Patigdas
Mervil Patigdas

The euphoric high he experienced after his first outdoor climb is what hooked Mervil—a certified climbing guide—to rock climbing. He thrives on routes that push his calves and thighs to their limits—proving that rock climbing demands as much from the legs as it does from the upper body.

Jon Apurado
Jon Apurado

Working as a climbing gym assistant, Noj (Jon spelled backwards) got hooked on rock climbing because of a love for the outdoors and adventure. His most memorable project is Unsa Mani Mikko 7b (12b), and he dreams of scaling big walls someday.

Lionel Maambong

By trade, Angging is a video editor, but when the camera's off, he's scaling waves (he's a surfer!) and walls. What started as an off-season hobby has turned into a passion, as he's now hooked on that unbeatable sense of freedom when climbing. He even volunteers his artistic prowess as a videographer for CRCC events. His most memorable project route is Sadaku, but he's got his sights set on the legendary Jack Sparrow (5.14a).

Naoki Ono
Naoki Ono

Naoki owns Aquamarine Ocean Tours, a leader in Cebu’s tourism scene, providing water sports and activities for tourists, especially from Japan. Naoki's dream project is to send a 5.14 before turning 60. Though it's hard to build strength at his age, his climbing superpower is his endurance—he can climb twice as much as climbers half his age!
